Established Montessori School Serving DuPage County Families Since 1982

Montessori of Woodridge is a trusted, family-owned and operated Montessori preschool located in Woodridge, IL. We’ve proudly served infants through 6-year-olds since 1982, offering parents in Woodridge, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Downers Grove, Darien, and the surrounding DuPage County area a nurturing and educational environment grounded in the authentic Montessori philosophy.

Our school is fully licensed and insured by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) and is a proud member of the International Montessori Council and the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). We employ Montessori-certified educators who are CPR and First Aid trained, and who are committed to continuing their professional development year-round through seminars, certifications, and coursework.

At Montessori of Woodridge, we believe children thrive in an environment where they are free to explore, choose, and grow at their own pace. Our programs are based on the Montessori principle of freedom within limits — children are given the independence to follow their interests, while guided respectfully by experienced teachers.

We maintain peaceful, structured classrooms where children engage in real work with real materials. Everything in our environment — from the layout to the activities — is intentionally prepared to support cognitive, physical, emotional, and social development. We honor each child’s innate desire to learn and foster habits of concentration, independence, and respect for others.

A Philosophy That Respects the Individual Child

Our Programs Support Growth from Infancy Through Age 6

We offer programs for infants, toddlers, twos, and primary-aged children, with flexible schedules to accommodate both working and stay-at-home families. Our classroom materials are specifically selected to match the developmental needs of each age group.

Infant & Toddler Program

In the infant and toddler classrooms, we emphasize physical movement, sensory exploration, and language development. We sing, read, and talk to the children throughout the day. Soft toys, musical instruments, textured rugs, and tunnels encourage discovery and motor skills. Teachers work one-on-one with children during diapering and feeding, using these moments to foster language, bonding, and trust.

The toddler program introduces structure with consistent routines and purposeful activities. Push/pull toys, puppet shows, and dramatic play encourage communication and imagination. Toddlers also begin practicing independence — including feeding themselves, potty training, and self-care habits like handwashing.

Two-Year-Old Program

Our twos classroom builds on toddler development by focusing on social skills, self-regulation, and early academic foundations. Children learn to take turns, choose and return materials, and express their needs with growing confidence. Art, music, movement, and storytelling are central to the experience. They begin to participate in simple group activities and are introduced to early math, phonics, and practical life skills.

Primary & Extended Programs (Ages 3–6)

The primary program for children aged 3 to 6 provides a three-year mixed-age classroom, promoting peer mentorship and a strong sense of classroom community. The Montessori curriculum covers:

  • Language & Literacy: Phonics, vocabulary building, early writing, and storytelling
  • Mathematics: Counting, number sense, place value, and beginning operations
  • Cultural Studies: Geography, science, and history
  • Creative Expression: Music, drama, art, and movement
  • Practical Life & Sensorial Work: Activities that build independence, fine motor control, and focus

We also offer creative dramatics, puppet play, and themed props like restaurant or grocery store kits that allow children to roleplay and explore real-world situations.
